![Modi Effect: Channel Clears 5-Month Salary Arrears!](https://www.greatandhra.com/newphotos9/ga_politics1611037702.jpeg)
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's sudden decision to ban currency notes of 500 and 1000 denominations might have caused a lot hardship and inconvenience to the common people, but it brought a lot of cheers to the staff of a television channel in Hyderabad.
The channel management has been avoiding salaries to its employees for the last five months. And when the staff went on an agitation seeking salaries, the management sacked many of them in the name of discipline.
The journalists who expose the corruption and highhandedness of the private company managements elsewhere in the country, were forced to shut their mouths and have been patiently waiting for the salaries.
On November 9, within a few hours after Modi made the announcement on ban on high value currency, the channel management called all the employees, including those who were sacked in the past, and declared that all their salary arrears would be cleared.
And in a couple of hours, all of them got currency notes in their hands – of course all in 500 and 1000 denominations – towards their salary dues.
The staff could not argue with the management stating that the notes are invalid, but they took them silently hoping that they would get them converted in their bank accounts.
Needless to say, the channel management could not find a better alternative to convert its black money into white, while regaining the goodwill of the employees!
