Strongly condemning the outburst of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh against BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, BJP senior leader and Rajya Sabha member M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday said Modi becoming Prime Minister will be disastrous to the Congress party not the country.
Speaking to media persons, Venkaiah said the people of the country had decided to retire the Congress party and their mood was evident from the popularity rating of the UPA after its defeat in the recent Assembly elections.
“Manmohan Singh seems to have not understood the message of the people, who rejected the Congress in the recent Assembly elections in four States”, he said and alleged that the Prime Minister’s outburst on Narendra Modi was a great insult to Indian democracy because Modi was elected as Chief Minister thrice with a handsome majority and the Prime Minister’s comments show that Dr Singh stooped down to a mean level to make cheap criticism of Modi.
Referring to comment of the Prime Minister about Rahul Gandhi, he said Singh spoke of great ideals of Rahul Gandhi, but did not reveal what those great credentials are. He should have explained about them, he added.
