Ministers Take It Easy With Velagapudi?

Ministers Take It Easy With Velagapudi?

The Telugu Desam Party government in Andhra Pradesh has constructed interim secretariat complex at a whopping cost of Rs 600 crore at Velagapudi in the new capital region of Amaravati.

While employees, who have vacated their Secretariat in Hyderabad and moved to Velagapudi lock, stock and barrel, are regularly coming to Velagapudi despite all the difficulties, the ministers in the Andhra cabinet are reluctant to come to their offices in the new Secretariat.

In fact, the government has constructed cosy chambers for all the ministers in the new complex, but none of them is evincing interest in coming to their offices.

At present, only chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is coming to his chambers regularly and conducting review meetings with officials.

He is learnt to have asked the ministers to come to their chambers at least once a week so as to create an atmosphere of a functioning government, but except a couple of them, others are not bothering to come to the offices.

Apparently, the ministers are feeling inconvenient to travel through narrow roads from Vijayawada and Guntur to reach Velagapudi. For the time being, they are said to be operating from their respective homes or offices in the two cities.
