MIM To Continue Alliance With Cong!

Amid talks of its possible tie-up with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in Telangana, the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen has made it clear that it won't break its alliance with the Congress party in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

The MIM on Sunday named seven candidates for the elections of GHMC's 15-member Standing Committee.

By naming just seven candidates, the MIM has left eight other seats for its ally Congress party. This will ensure that the MIM-Congress combine continues its control over the Standing Committee for the fifth consecutive year. The GHMC's five-year term will complete by this year-end.

Of 150 divisions in the GHMC, the Congress has 54 corporators, MIM - 42, TDP - 46, BJP - 5, three independents and MBT has one corporator.

By continuing their alliance, the MIM-Congress combine can keep the TDP and BJP out of Standing Committee.
