A series of reviews being conducted by Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the last few days over the performance of the party in the recent local body elections has brought to light some stunning facts.
Several TDP functionaries, including former Gurajala MLA Yarapathineni Srinivas Rao, brought to the notice of the party president that some TDP leaders have been maintaining personal and business relations with YSR Congress party leaders.
“They continue to be in the TDP but have been hand in glove with the YSRCP leaders during the night time. This is nothing but betrayal of the party,” Yarapathineni reportedly told Naidu.
This was confirmed even by former minister K S Jawahar. He said some TDP leaders had business relations with minister Kodali Nani and Vallabhaneni Vamsi.
“Though they had been good friends right from the beginning owing to their caste equations, it does not augur well for the TDP,” he observed.
He suggested that such TDP leaders better resign from the party, if they want to continue their business relations with YSRCP leaders.
“Naidu should not encourage such people if he wants the party to be stronger,” Jawahar said.
The minister said it was time Naidu should give up his lenient attitude and change himself into a strong leader for the sake of the cadre.
“He should identify the betrayers and send them away. The process has begun,” he said.
At the same time, Jawahar said the TDP leaders should not use foul language while counter-attacking the YSRCP leaders.
“Naidu also asked the party leaders not to use objectionable language. We need to be dignified in our retaliation if the YSRC leaders use vulgar language,” he suggested.
