YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy seems to be turning impatient with every passing day and desperately wants ascend the chief minister’s throne by hoping for early elections to the Andhra Pradesh assembly.
One does not know who gave him the information, but Jagan told the party cadre that there is every possibility of the NDA government going in for mid-term elections anytime, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to hold simultaneous elections to both the Parliament and the state assemblies all over the country. A legislation to this effect might be introduced in Parliament any time.
“There is every possibility of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh elections to be postponed pending the passage of this bill,” he said and asked the party cadre to be prepared for mid-term elections to be held anytime.
Jagan may be a man in hurry to get into power; and it will be decided by the people. But it is unlikely that Modi will destabilize his own government. Especially since the demonetization has caused a lot of anger among the people, he will definitely not go in for mid-term elections since he knows the result would be adverse for the government.
So, it is better Jagan waits till 2019, when the term of the NDA government at the Centre and that of the TDP in the state comes to an end.
