Stage is set for the entry of senior Congress leader and former MLA from Vijayawada Central Malladi Vishnu into the YSR Congress party.
Vishnu, who has been lying low for quite some time except on the occasions when he hits out at the ruling Telugu Desam Party during the television debates, has been given green signal by YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for shifting loyalties to his party.
He is likely to meet Jagan in Hyderabad on Tuesday, but the formal joining might happen during the plenary of the YSRC at Guntur on July 8 and 9.
Vishnu, who is an ardent fan of late YSR, reportedly held a meeting with his supporters and informed about his decision. He is currently working as Vijayawada Urban Congress president.
However, Vishnu has realised that there is no future for the Congress party and that it is time for him to take a decision if he wants to sustain his political future.
In fact, Vishnu’s entry into the YSRC was discussed in 2015 itself. However, after the infamous incident of liquor tragedy at his bar in Vijayawada in which several people were killed due to liquor poisoning, forced him to beat a retreat. Now that the issue has subsided, he has revived his plans to join the YSRC.
If Vishnu joins the YSR Congress party, the Congress party will lose its only noted leader in Krishna district!
