Now, like Rahul baba in erstwhile Congress, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu is trying to project his son Lokesh babu as his heir apparent.
Of course, during his earlier term, Lokesh was young and one wasn’t sure if he would take to politics or business. But the game of politics is irresistible and Lokesh finally started playing his role ever since his dad got into the race after a 10 year break.
With Babu directing that Lokesh must preside over meetings of MLAs and ministers, many feel that the day is not far when Babu might voluntarily give up the ‘throne’ to his son.
Meanwhile, the Congress is not leaving any opportunity to point out that TDP is replicating the same family rule that it once made a huge hue and cry about with regards to family rule in the Congress, by trying to project Lokesh as the next in command.
Leader of opposition in Andhra Pradesh Legislative council and ex minister C Ramachandraiah has said that Babu must include Lokesh in the cabinet, instead of vesting extra constitutional powers in him.
He further clarified that just like Narayana was made a minister irrespective of not winning any seat, Babu could have easily made his son a minister.
Ramachandraiah questioned as to how Lokesh can question the functioning of MLAs and ministers without holding any position in the government.
He further hinted that Babu was being a mere puppet in the hands of ‘some’ people. The Congress leader also wondered if Babu was running a democracy or implementing jungle rule.
