Telugu Desam Party national general secretary Nara Lokesh is not interested in entering the cabinet of his father, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, through backdoor methods.
Reacting to the reports that he might be sent to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council as a nominated MLC, Lokesh told media that they were all just speculations by the media.
“There is no such thinking in the party as far as I know. If the party decides, I would like to contest the direct elections to the state assembly in 2019 and become an MLA,” he said.
The Naidu scion, however, said he would abide by whatever decision his father takes. “So far, there are no indications of me joining the cabinet,” he said.
Apparently, Lokesh fears his father might not be interested in fielding him in the assembly elections, if he agrees for the MLC seat now.
Moreover, he wants to be among the young leaders of the party in the assembly, rather than among the elders in the council, if he wants to boost up his image.
