It is an open secret that the Left parties in Telugu states of Andhra and Telangana cannot win the elections on their own, except in a couple of constituencies where they have traditional vote bank.
History tells us that the Communists managed to get representation in the assembly and parliament in the past only when they had alliance with the Congress or the Telugu Desam Party.
After the bifurcation of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, the Left parties have been feeling like fish out of water.
With the TDP forging alliance with the BJP and the Congress losing its ground completely, the Left parties were looking at the YSR Congress party as a potential ally and they were hoping that they could win a few MLA and a couple of MP seats, if they forge alliance with the YSRC in 2019 elections.
Now, their hopes are shattered completely with Jagan extending his support to the BJP.
“He has cheated us and the people by supporting the BJP candidate in the Presidential elections. We have been suspecting that Jagan would do it because he has to come out of the cases against him to go to polls in 2019. He will remain a cheat in the eyes of people,” alleged CPI leader K Ramakrishna.
Now, the only option left for the Left parties is to join hands with power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan. They are hopeful that they may get some benefits if Pawan proves his strength!
