There is still one-and-a-half years to go for the next assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh and political parties have already started hitting the roads with various rallies, road shows and public meetings, in a bid to attract the voters.
While undertaking backroom negotiations for a possible alliance in their own way, the Telugu Desam Party, Jana Sena Party and Bharatiya Janata Party have been holding their individual programmes, appealing to the people to vote for them in the next elections.
At the same time, ruling YSR Congress party headed by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, too, has intensified its mass contact programme in the name of Gadapa Gadapakoo Prabhutvam, to propagate the achievements of the government.
Interestingly, every party has been asking the people to give it a chance to rule the state in the next elections for its own reasons.
For example, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu has been extensively touring district after district, making a fervent appeal to the people to give him a “last chance.”
Naidu, who had taken a vow that he would enter the state assembly again only in the capacity of the chief minister, is calling upon the people to give him one last chance to prove how better administer he is.
He has alleged that in the last three and a half years, Jagan has completely destroyed the state beyond repair and he would do his best to rebuild the state if he is voted to power.
By claiming that he still has the energy and zeal to provide a better administration to the state, Naidu is trying to create the impression that this would be the last chance for him to rule the state. By 2029, he would turn 79 years and might not have the same energies to rule the state.
On the other hand, Pawan Kalyan has been asking for the people to give him just “one chance” to rule the state and provide a corruption-free administration.
Since the people have experimented with all the parties, they should give a chance to a fresher like him to see the difference.
The Jana Sena Party is now taking this “one-chance” slogan strongly into the people. For now, Pawan Kalyan is creating an impression that he is going alone. The slogan might change, if he enters into an alliance with the TDP.
On the other hand, Jagan is also going into people with a strong appeal to them to give him “one more chance” in the next elections.
He is claiming that he has been implementing his welfare schemes which no other government in the past attempted and if the schemes have to continue, the people should give him one more chance.
Jagan has already indicated to the party cadre that if the YSRC is given “one more chance” by the people in the next elections, he can continue to rule the state for another 30 years!
So, the choice for the people now is among – last chance, one chance and one more chance!
