Reiterating that she was committed to the decision of the Congress high command to divide Andhra Pradesh, Union minister Panabaka Lakshmi on Saturday said that common people in the Seemandhra region were not interested in the united Andhra Pradesh.
Panabaka told media that only the political leaders were strongly trying to obstruct division of the State for their own selfish interests.
Exuding confidence that people in the Seemandhra would hail the Congress move to bifurcate the State and extend wholehearted support to the ruling party, she said the electorate would give favourable verdict on CWC decision in the ensuing general elections.
Panabaka said the unruly behaviour of the Seemandhra MPs in Parliament was heinous and condemnable.
“Every Member of Parliament has bounden duty to respect the Lok Sabha as the Indian democracy commands respect from all nations in the world,” she said.
Stating that she was one of the eye witnesses of Seemandhra MPs’ hooliganism in the Lok Sabha the other day, Panabaka said there was no iota of truth in the allegation of the Seemandhra MPs that they were beaten by the MPs of other States.
She said the behaviour of TDP MP Modugula Venugopal Reddy and Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal was atrocious and painful.
The duo created such a terror in the House that all the members, including ministers and even the Speaker had to scoot out of the House in fear.
