Normally any government undertakes research before starting any new organization or body. But the Andhra Pradesh government established a body first and is now undertaking research on how to use that institution.
Spending lakhs of rupees, the government created a ‘Farmers Welfare Organization’. The funds for the loan waiver of farmers were deposited in the account of this organization which was also made responsible for looking into and coming up with ways and means of improving the lot of farmers. There ends the story!
To date, no recruitment of personnel or key officials has been made for this organization. The government has now appointed a commission headed by two retired bureaucrats, CS Rao and Krishnayya to prepare a report on how the organization should function and what its responsibilities should be.
