Panchayat Raj and IT Minister K T Rama Rao is understood to have rejected the offer made by his father K Chandrasekhar Rao for the working president post.
According to party sources, KTR is learnt to have conveyed to his father that he would rather wait for the top post, rather than holding a dummy post.
“There is no such thing called working committee president in the party constitution. If I take up this job, it would only be degrading myself. And when you are in the President post, who will listen to me in the party?” he is learnt to have told his father.
Party seniors are understood to have suggested that KTR was just six years old in politics and it is not advisable to entrust him with the responsibility of party leadership. Moreover, KTR is not a mass leader like his father and he hardly knows any field level leaders.
If at all KCR wants to give such responsibility, it should be given to his nephew T Harish Rao, who can handle it very well because he commands a lot of respect among the cadre, say sources.
The TRS president reportedly told his son to wait till 2017 to take the mantle. By that time, KTR should tour extensively in villages and develop the cadre base. Then, he can lead the party in the 2019 elections.
