Telangana Panchayat Raj and IT minister K T Rama Rao’s recent visit to Lucknow to meet Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav becomes a subject of hot debate among political and government circles.
The reason, KTR rushed to Lucknow at such a ‘jet speed’ that no one could anticipate.
KTR’s office issued a press release to all the media houses saying that Akhilesh Yadav invited KTR to know about Telangana Water Grid Project. The message was sent on the night of October 13.
KTR along with senior officials of panchayat raj department rushed to Lucknow the very next day and gave a present to Akhilesh on Water Grid on October 15.
Now no one can explain why KTR had to go all the way to Lucknow within a day just on the mere invitation of a CM.
Normally, the representatives of any state government or for that matter government of any country, visits a particular state or country to study on the projects or schemes on their own and not ask the respective states or countries to give a presentation by visiting them. This is the norm followed anywhere.
In that case, Akhilesh, if he was so impressed by Water Grid, he could have come to Telangana or send his team of officials to examine or study the project. But it was not the case. He invited KTR that too to make it within hours.
But what prompted KTR to rush there at such a jet speed creates doubts among all. Insiders say, it was to ink a ‘secret deal’ for the implementation of Water Grid in both the states.
With UP government too planning to execute Water Grid, the KTR’s trip was reportedly planned to extend benefit to few pipe manufacturing companies and contractors, close to TRS, who are doing wate grid project in Telangana, to grab the contracts in UP too. The time will tell how far it is true.
