After a prolonged hibernation, senior journalist Kommineni Srinivasa Rao has joined Sakshi media house promoted by YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy as news head.
Kommineni will be doing the same morning live show “Live with KSR” which he was doing in NTV in the past and made him popular. Besides, he would also be doing special interviews with politicians as and when required.
The Sakshi management has taken enough precautions to see that he does not clash with another senior journalist Devulapalli Amar, who is also very popular in conducting live debates during the evening hours.
It may be recalled that Kommineni was shunted out of NTV after he started rubbing Andhra chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on wrong shoulders with his pro-Jagan stand.
During the recent Amaravati land scam, Kommineni took the side of Jagan and exposed Naidu government’s misdeeds. Naturally, the TDP leadership brought pressure on NTV management and got Kommineni removed. He had no option but to join Sakshi after a lot of negotiations.
However, people in Sakshi wonder how long Kommineni can stay in Sakshi because of his caste factor; and secondly, there is not much independence for journalists in the channel. It remains to be seen how Kommineni can survive there.
