Kodandaram To Contest From Ramagundam?

Kodandaram To Contest From Ramagundam?

Contrary to the expectations that he would not contest the assembly elections, Telangana Jana Samithi president Prof M Kodandaram has decided to take a plunge into the electoral battle.

According to the party sources, Kodandaram has chosen Ramagundam in Peddapalli district to enter the fray in the assembly elections.

Earlier, there was a proposal from Congress, TDP and CPI that Kodandaram should campaign on behalf of grand alliance in entire state instead of contesting from a constituency.

However, TJS leaders, cadre and also few leaders of opposition suggested that Kodandaram should contest the elections from any one of the constituencies of his choice.

His direct electoral battle would impact the poll outcome in at least half a dozen other constituencies in and around.

Apparently, Kodandaram has chosen Karimnagar district, which is considered to be the bastion of the TRS. It does mean he wants to break the backbone of the TRS.

He has reportedly made up his mind to contest from Ramagundam, where the TRS has already announced sitting MLA Somarapu Satyanarayana’s candidature.

If Kodandaram contests from Ramagundam, he can make huge dent into the prospects of the TRS in Peddapalli, Choppadandi, Dharmapuri, Manthani, Mancherial, Bellampalli and Chennur.

The TRS is already facing rebel threat from Korukanti Chander and Kandula Sandhyarani of TRS. In the wake of Kodandaram’s decision, the TRS is likely to rework its strategies, say party sources.
