
While the ruling Congress party is facing rebellion from within in the Rajya Sabha elections from the State, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi is sitting pretty getting support from unexpected quarters.
On Tuesday, the CPI, which has four MLAs in the Assembly, announced support to the candidature of TRS leader K Kesava Rao in the Rajya Sabha elections.
CPI floor leader Gunda Mallesh claimed that Keshav Rao was the best person to represent the Telangana region in the Parliament.
Announcing his party's support to KK's candidature, Mallesh said that Keshav Rao led the Telangana movement in various capacities and he deserves to be a Member of Parliament.
He said that his party has decided to support KK's candidature following his sincerity and commitment towards the Telangana cause.
The Bharatiya Janata Party, which also has four members, is learnt to have agreed to support the TRS candidate.
Interestingly, the TRS sought the support of even the MIM which has seven MLAs.
Some rebel TDP members, too, might support the TRS candidate, sources said.
