Kiran skips Cong foundation day fete!

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday was conspicuous by his absence at the Congress party's 129th foundation day celebrations held at Gandhi Bhavan, inviting a lot of criticism from the party leaders.

Kiran, who attended the party’s strategy meeting convened by AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Friday, sent a message to the party leadership that he is no more interested in the Congress party activities.

Even while releasing advertisements to the media on getting award from India Today for the best performing State, Kiran ensured that there were no photographs of Congress president Sonia Gandhi or Rahul or even Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

Naturally, his critics slammed Kiran for abstaining the Congress foundation day celebrations. Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao said that the Chief Minister's absence from the party's foundation day celebrations would send a wrong signal among the entire rank and file across the State. He said that if the trend continues then even regular party workers would skip the foundation day celebrations from next year.

Hanumantha Rao said that Kiran Kumar Reddy became the Chief Minister only because he was a loyal party worker. He was it was incorrect to ignore the party's important functions.

Stating that AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi has announced his war against corruption, the Congress MP warned the Chief Minister against signing the files at his will. He said Kiran Kumar Reddy's actions might harm the party in next elections.
