Kiran Says Last Ball Has Not Yet Been Bowled!

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday, who has been facing criticism of toeing the high command line on the Telangana formation issue, tried to undo the damage caused to him on Thursday.

In an informal chat with media persons, Kiran said he would never accept the high command order and he would oppose the State bifurcation tooth and nail.

“I am still committed to my statement that I would stop the bifurcation, if not tsunami. The last ball has not yet been bowled and there is still a lot of time for that. You are going to see how I tackle the issue in the assembly,” he said.

The Chief Minister also made it clear that the Telangana bill had not been introduced in the assembly yet.

“It was just tabled. The formal introduction has not taken place, leave alone the commencement of discussion,” he said.

He described the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill, 2013, as sensitive and said that such a Bill was never discussed by the State Legislatures in the past.

“There was clarity on how the debate should take place. Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar and Council chairman Dr A Chakrapani will set the procedure for the debate,” he said.

Kiran cited the instances of debates in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar Assemblies before the formation of Uttarakhand and Jharkhand States.
