It is now official. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday announced that he was prepared to step down from the post for the sake of Samaikyandhra.
Making a direct attack on the Congress high command for its “disastrous” decision to divide the state, the Chief Minister said he did not mind losing his post to see that the state remained united.
“For me, the post is not important, but the future of the state is important. Nobody is permanent in any post. The Congress high command should immediately revoke its decision to divide the state. Otherwise, future generations will not forgive us,” he said.
Kiran made it clear that it was not difficult to divide the state.
“The CWC is the highest decision making body of the party. But that does not mean, it can reverse the decisions taken by the CWC during the regime of Nehru and Indira Gandhi to keep the state united. If that is the case, what is the sanctity of their decisions?” he asked.
Analysts say Kiran has directly challenged the high command to sack him, so that he can end up being a martyr for Samaikyandhra.
