Going by the latest outbursts of the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, it is apparent that he is bracing up for a new political avatar in the post-bifurcation politics of Andhra Pradesh.
“We could not stop the Phailin cyclone but we can stop the bifurcation cyclone,” he said in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.
His remark is to be seen in the backdrop of his growing demonstration of defiance against the Congress high command on the issue of division of the state.
Though he is resigned to the inevitability of the formation of Telangana state, Kiran is clearly positioning himself for a key role in the Seemandhra politics after the state is divided.
He wants to project himself as someone who tried hard to keep the State united but could not succeed due to the adamant attitude of the Congress high command. This is the reason for his latest diatribe against the Centre during his tour of Visakhapatnam.
The Chief Minister faces two formidable rivals in the Seemandhra politics: YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu.
On the other hand, the Congress appears rudderless in Seemandhra with all senior leaders finding themselves in a fix following the UPA’s decision to divide the state.
