One of the election promises of KCR was that every child in Telangana would be entitled to free education from LKG to post-graduation. This is not an ordinary promise!
If implemented successfully, it would perhaps be the first realization of any utopian concept on planet earth, which is precisely the reason why many experts feel that it is a fanciful proposal and practically not possible.
Seven months into the formation of Telangana, not a single word has been spoken about this scheme so far.
The indications are that KCR will constitute a committee next month to discuss about this promise of his and that the chances of the promise seeing the light of the day will only be in 2017 or 2018.
Where is he going to funds from to sponsor the education of every child from KG to PG? To date, he has not been willing to sit across the table and resolve the ‘Eamcet’ issue itself with Chandrababu Naidu thereby putting the future of hundreds of students in jeopardy.
And given the way he has handled the ‘power’ issue of Telangana, it is highly doubtful whether he would be able to live up to this promise either.
Like Naidu, KCR is also guilty of making promises just to win the elections, promises which he probably has no intention of honoring for the simple reason that they are not feasible.
