Kesav Causes Stir In TDP

The main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is caught in a piquant situation.

After making a series of flip-flops on Telangana statehood issue, it is facing yet another dilemma now.

Though the present official position of the party is for division of the state, a senior party leader from Seemandhra Payyavula Kesav has stirred a hornet's nest by saying that sincere efforts would be made to see that his party makes yet another U-turn on the issue and comes out in support of united AP cause.

"We will mount pressure on the party leadership to change the present stand and support the demand to keep the state united," Keshav said.

He had earlier caused embarrassment in the party circles, particularly in Telangana region, when he moved the Supreme Court, challenging the UPA's decision on carving out separate Telangana state.

There is a growing suspicion in the party circles that Keshav's moves have the blessings of the party chief N Chandrababu Naidu.

Rattled by the massive public anger in the Seemandhra over the bifurcation of the state, the TDP leadership is under intense pressure to support integration.

Though Chandrababu is personally in favour of keeping the state united, he had taken political decision in favour of Telangana state.

Kesav's statement has caused a stir in the party with the Telangana leaders deciding to take up the matter with Naidu.
