The much-awaited English daily --- Telangana Today – to be published by Telangana Publications Limited, promoted by Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, is going to hit the stands at last on Friday.
In fact, the daily was supposed to be launched formally on December 12 itself. It was tweeted even by its editorial staff with a lot of relief.
However, the launch was postponed by four days at the eleventh hour, because somebody told KCR that December 12 was not an auspicious day for him, as it coincided with Milad-un-Nabi, a Muslim festival.
So, he got it postponed to December 16, the commencement of Dhanurmasam, a holy month for Vaishnavites, as suggested by KCR’s favourite seer Chinna Jeeyar Swamy.
Sources said it would be a soft launch of the daily as KCR did not want to give any pre-launch publicity to the daily. Even the circulation of Telangana Today would be very modest and not on a big scale, sources added.
