Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday began the five-day Vedic ritual Maha Rudra Sahita Sahasra Chandi Yagam – at his farmhouse in Erravelli village of Siddipet district, ostensibly to seek divine powers to fulfil his ambition of playing a big role in the national politics.
As hundreds of priests chanted Vedic hymns, KCR, along with his wife Shobha commenced the Yagam at the sprawling premises of his farmhouse.
They rituals include ‘Ganapathi Puja’, ‘Shuddi Punya Havachanam’. ‘Rithvic Varnam’, ‘Chaturveda Parayanam’. ‘Yagashala Pradakshinam’, ‘Gopuja’, ‘Gurupuja’ and ‘Navagraha puja.’
An official press release from the Chief Minister’s Office, said the five-day ritual is taking place under the stewardship of Swami Swaroopananda swamy from Sri Sarada Peetham from Visakhapatnam and with the blessings of Jagadguru Sringeri Peetadhipati Bharathi Teertha Swamy.
“Rituals were performed for the overall benefit of the people, successful continuation of welfare and development initiatives, abundant rains with bountiful produce. Further, KCR also prayed for a better administration in the country in the coming days,” the press release said.
However, party sources said KCR, by performing his Yagam, wanted to steer clear of all the hurdles in his endeavours to play a big role at the national level, where he is planning to form a federal front of all the regional parties.
In December 2015, too, he performed a similar yagam, but on a much higher scale, at his farmhouse.
The mega ritual was attended by over 2,500 priests who performed the yagam without break for five consecutive days. And that fetched him immense power to rule the state and also bring the party back to power in 2018 December.
Even before coming to power, KCR performed yagams like Chandi Yagam and Maha Mruthyunjaya Homam at the Telangana Bhavan, the headquarters of the TRS, which he believed, helped him realize the dream of achieving separate state for Telangana.
