KCR Under Attack For Gag On Media

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao’s outburst against a couple of television channels and his government’s inhuman treatment of women journalists has drawn a lot of criticism.

The national channels picked up the news on Wednesday and launched a tirade against KCR, exposing his monarchic attitude. His attack on freedom of press evoked loud protests from all sections of people.

Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu observed that those in the government should have patience, and added that everyone should respect freedom of  the media.

“It is not proper for anyone to talk of crushing the media,” said Naidu obviously referring to KCR’s attack on a section of the media.

Venkaiah said Laws are there to deal with the Media which violated  the norms and rules, and it is not good to gag the media.

In Hyderabad, for the second consecutive day, journalists from two Telugu news channels today staged a protest in front of Raj Bhavan here demanding the lifting of a ban on their channels in Telangana.

Police took in custody nearly  70 employees of the two channels for staging a sit-in, seeking intervention of Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan.
