KCR Tries To Buy Peace With Ou Students!

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday approved the sanction of Rs 7 crore for clearing mess charges arrears of students in Osmania University.

The move is viewed as an attempt by KCR to buy peace with OU students who distanced from ruling TRS party after Telangana State was formed and TRS government headed by KCR came to power.

Everyone knows the sacrifices made by OU students during Telangana statehood agitation. Everyone still believe that without OU students there was no Telangana agitation in 2009 and no possibility of formation of Telangana State later.

In fact, OU students stood behind TRS during agitation and even during 2014 Assembly elections enabling it to ride to power.

But after KCR became CM, the gap widened between TRS and OU. This was because the announcement made by KCR on regularisation of contract staff, which the students strongly opposed. Also the delay in issuing recruitment notifications, payment of Rs 7 crore mess charge arrears further added fuel to the fire.

With this, OU students are agitating against TRS government for the past few months. They are not allowing any of the TRS ministers or MLAs into the campus since then.

However, KCR came out with sops to pacify students all of a sudden. Already few job notifications were released and many more in the pipeline.

KCR has now given Rs 7 crore for clearing mess charge arrears of OU students. He also announced supplying of fine quality rice (sanna biyyam) for students in university hostels.

It remains to be seen how OU students react on these sops.
