If the reports coming from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi are to be believed, party president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is planning to revive his strategy of luring as many leaders as possible from the Congress party so as to weaken it before the next elections.
According to these reports, KCR is eyeing senior Congress leaders from weaker sections who are said to be disgruntled due to domination of Reddy community in the party.
With almost all the top positions in the party being garnered by the Reddys, the leaders belonging to SC, ST, BC and minority groups are looking for greener pastures and the TRS president wants to make full use of their disgruntlement.
Some of the big leaders whom KCR is planning to lure are believed to be former Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, former MLA Bhikshapathi Yadav, former ministers Danam Nagender, Mukesh Goud and J Geetha Reddy (an SC), MLA Sampath Kumar and even former deputy chief minister Damodar Raja Narasimha.
KCR is hopeful that all of them could be accommodated in the MLA posts, as there is going to be an increase in the number of assembly constituencies in the state.
“His objective seems to be ensuring that the Congress party does not find potential candidates to contest in the next elections in key constituencies,” sources said.
