The Telangana government has surprisingly remained silent over the unusual increase in the prices of cement in the last two weeks, while the Naidu government acted swiftly and warned the companies against hiking prices.
According to sources, TRS president and Telangana Chief Minister called a meeting of the cement manufacturers to enquire about the cement price hike, as was reported in the media, but the companies defended their action. And KCR had to succumb to their pressure.
Inquiries revealed that one of the cement manufacturers from Telangana was the prime fund raiser for the TRS in the recent elections and he is reportedly behind the hike in cement prices. And since KCR had got his quota, he is remaining silent, say sources.
Meanwhile, TDP MLA Revanth Reddy on Wednesday alleged that the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao (KCR) has misguided the Legislative Assembly on the hike in prices of the Cement.
He reminded that the Competition Commission has earlier inquired into the cement price hike and imposed Rs. 6,500 crore fine on 11 cement companies for creating artificial shortage of the Cement in the market. He questioned as to why the Telangana Government had not taken action even though the Cement companies wantonly created artificial shortage of the Cement.
He demanded that the Vigilance and Enforcement departments should conduct raids on the cement companies and their godowns.
