Even as the war of words is continuing between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governments on power production at Srisailam project, Krishna Water Board Chairman Krishna Pandit on Monday met Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at Secretariat here.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister reiterated his stand that they will not stop power production at the project as there is a dire need of power supply to farmers in the state.
The TRS Government is to move Supreme Court urging it to direct the AP Government to pave an easy way for production of 54 per cent.
It is likely that the Telangana government may complain to the apex court against the AP Government for violating AP Bifurcation Act by stalling production of power and hampering its interests.
Today’s meeting assumes importance as both the governments sought the Governor ESL Narasimhan’s intervention to sort out the issue.
Power production at the project, due share of 54 percent to Telangana, availability of water, GOs issued, letters written by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to Krishna Water Board and continuation of power production by Telangana were some of the issues discussed in the meeting, according to information.
While Telangana Government is claiming to draw 54 per cent of power as per AP Bifurcation Act 2014, the AP Government is opposing the same.
