Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to be utterly non-serious on the growing number of suicides by farmers on account of crop failure and delay in implementation of crop loan waiver scheme.
It was evident from the way KCR took the question on farmers’ suicides lightly during his media briefing after State Cabinet’s meeting on Friday night.
When asked by a reporter, the Chief Minister merely mentioned that he read about them in newspapers. He also said that the number of suicides was not so high as being projected in the media.
“This reaction is totally shocking. He must have announced ex-gratia as per GO 421 for the families of those who committed suicide and also provided relief to those who are in distress,” a senior journalist observed.
