KCR Drops Federal Front Plan?

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is understood to have decided to put on hold his efforts to form a federal front at the national level and his plans to make an entry into national politics before 2019.

According to TRS sources, KCR raised this issue during a brief discussion with former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (S) president H D Deve Gowda on Sunday, but the latter said it was not the time to make such an effort, as no other regional party was willing to take the risk of forming a front as an alternative to the Congress and the BJP.

With the parties like DMK of Tamil Nadu, JMM of Jharkhand, Trinamool Congress of West Bengal rejecting the possibility of a federal front, KCR will have no option but to push the plan to the backburner.

What is more, the TRS chief is not happy with Mamata Banerjee insisting on fielding her party candidate in the elections for the post of Rajya Sabha deputy chairman, as TRS wants to field K Kesava Rao for the post.

As a result, KCR is learnt to have decided that the TRS would abstain from voting in the event of a contest for the post. This will be the last straw on his attempts to form the federal front!
