KCR Blacks Out TV9, ABN

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has initiated stringent action against popular television channels – TV9 and ABN Andhra Jyothi, for allegedly belittling Telangana MLAs, MLCs and Telangana State Legislature through a news item which comprises alleged malicious content.

KCR cracked the whip against these two channels and the programs were stopped from June 16 across Telangana State including Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Ranga Reddy districts. Following the orders, the Telangana MSOs stopped airing their programs.

It may be recalled that the Chief Minister warned of serious action against the channels for airing such malicious program.

During an all-party meeting at the Committee hall of Assembly, KCR expressed serious concern and leaders who attended it too expressed similar views.

When the related footage was shown to fellow legislators in the presence of the Chief Minister, a lady legislator got emotional even as seniors tried in vain to console her, according to sources.

KCR has stated in the State Assembly that the Telangana State Government will soon come up with an Act to check such malicious programs as it was being done in the case of Tamil Nadu state.
