Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who was the most media-friendly leader before coming to power, is now silently resorting to arm-twisting of the media which do not toe his line, according to the talk doing rounds in the media circles.
According to sources, the resident editor of a highly-popular English newspaper in Hyderabad, who was almost given extension for another couple of years, was denied the same at the eleventh hour last month.
The reason: KCR sent his top official in the Information and Public Relations department all the way to Mumbai to complain to the management of this English daily against the resident editor, who has been writing negative stories against the Telangana government.
The resident editor had, in fact, been running a campaign against KCR’s decision to demolish buildings and also fell large number of trees in Kasu Brahmanand Reddy park.
The daily also has exposed the hollowness of the KCR government on maintenance of roads in the city which have now become a nightmare for citizens.
Following the complaint from KCR’s official, the management dropped the idea of giving extension to the editor. Soon after his exit, the daily started writing positive stories on KCR government and within no time, it got a huge advertisement a couple of days ago.
The official is understood to have conveyed a strong message to all the dailies that they cannot expect advertisements from the government, if they write negative stories against the government!
