It appears Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is blindly following his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu in fudging the figures on growth rate in the state, as to hoodwink the people and the Centre.
KCR government has projected a 10.22 per cent growth rate in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) this year, in spite of financial problems. This is against the 7.2 per cent national average growth rate. And according to financial minister Etela Rajender, it happened because of the various reforms initiated by the KCR government.
It may be recalled that AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu also boasted of achieving 10.99 per cent growth rate in Gross State Domestic Product, as against the national average of 7.2 per cent. At the same time, he said the state was facing revenue deficit and the Centre has to compensate for the same.
Both the chief ministers have forgotten the fact that if the GDSP rate has grown substantially, it should reflect in the revenues as well but that is not the case going by the growth indicators. Apparently, the growth figures are inflated so that the state can go in for more borrowings from financial institutions.
