Kapu JAC Sets August 24 As Deadline For Quota

The Joint Action Committee of the various Kapu organisations has fixed yet another deadline to the Telugu Desam Party government in Andhra Pradesh headed by chief minister N Chadrababu Naidu to find a solution to the reservations to Kapus in education and employment.

The Kapu JAC leaders had a closed door meeting with former minister Mudragada Padmanabham on Wednesday evening and discussed the strategy to be adopted by the community in the wake of the latest statement by YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy that he would not like to give any assurance on securing reservations to the Kapus as the issue was seized of by the Centre.

Apparently, the JAC leaders felt that all the political parties, including the TDP, YSRC and Jana Sena Party, were only taking the Kapu community for a ride and treating it only as a vote bank.

“We need to show our strength in the next elections and not fall into the trap of these parties,” they felt.

Kapu JAC chairman Satyanarayana told media on Thursday that both Naidu and Jagan have turned a blind eye to the issue of Kapu reservations and creating a confusion among the people of the community.

“We have decided that we shall support only such a party which will sincerely fight for the Kapu quota issue,” he said.

While accusing Naidu of deliberately dodging the Kapu reservation issue, Satyanarayana also challenged the YSRC president for a debate on why achieving the quota was not possible for a state party.

The JAC set a deadline of August 24 to the Naidu government to announce a clear stand on how the state government would go about in securing the quota for Kapus.

“We want the parties not to take U-turn, but right turn on the Kapu reservations,” he asserted.
