The Congress party has expressed confidence of returning to power in the next GHMC elections.
Speaking at the review meeting of Khairtabad constituency at Nandani Nagar here on Sunday, TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Congress would seek votes in the next elections on the basis of its contribution in development of Hyderabad during its regime from 2004-2014.
He said the TRS Government was openly cheating the people by making fake promises. He said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was on the spree of making false promises and even launched the Swachh Hyderabad campaign only in view of GHMC elections.
Earlier, Uttam Kumar and Greater Hyderabad president Danam Nagender released a brochure "The Golden Decade of Hyderabad 2004-2014" prepared by Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council and GHCC Incharge Mohammed Ali Shabbir.
Speaking on the occasion, Shabbir Ali said the previous Congress regime developed Hyderabad by spending more than Rs 1 lakh crore which turned the city into a 'Must See Destination' in the world.
He said the previous Congress Government had spent Rs 2,478 crore on international airport; Rs 6,696 crore on Nehru ORR; Rs 600 crore on PVNR Express Way and thousands of crores on different other initiatives like drinking water. He said all three phases of Krishna River and first phase of Godavari River water for Hyderabad were started by the Congress party.
Ridiculing the claims of KCR on developing Hyderabad, he said the Chief Minister has been proposing works worth over Rs 42,000 crore for Hyderabad while the State Government has allocated a mere Rs 526 crore in 2015-16 budget.
"He must clarify this and convene a special budget session if he was sincere," he said. He exuded confidence that the Congress would win the next GHMC elections by securing over 100 seats.
