Finally, Jana Sena Party floated by power star Pawan Kalyan has got its own television channel to promote its activities.
On Wednesday, a new management took over the already running 99TV, floated by Communist Party of India a couple of years ago. Retired IAS officer Thota Chandrasekhar, who also owns Aditya Group of Industries, bought the channel from the CPI quietly and performed the inaugural puja in the morning.
There were reports earlier that Pawan Kalyan would invest in another Leftist channel 10TV of the CPI-M with the majority stake belonging to industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad.
But there seems to be legal issues in the transfer of equity shares in the name of Prasad and Pawan. The issues are now being sorted out.
Now, Chandrasekhar, who is now a key member of Jana Sena Party, has taken over 99TV, much to the relief of Pawan Kalyan.
This gentleman, who also belongs to Kapu community, was an IAS officer of 1987 batch from Maharashtra and he took voluntary retirement in 2008.
He joined Praja Rajyam Party floated by megastar Chiranjeevi, which had its office first in his residence in Hyderabad. He contested on PRP ticket from Guntur in 2009 elections but lost.
Subsequently, he joined YSR Congress party and unsuccessfully contested 2014 elections. But, somehow, he could not get adjusted there and has been keeping away from the party. Later, he joined the Jana Sena Party.
Interestingly, Chandrasekar also owns a digital media called News Wave, which is being run by senior journalist and ex-TV9 output editor Alapati Suresh Kumar. Now, this News Wave Media will run the 99TV.
And within minutes of Chandrasekhar taking over the channel, it started telecasting promotional news of Pawan Kalyan in a big way!
