The anointment of former minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah has led to a lot of discontent among several senior Telangana Congress leaders, particularly former minister K Jana Reddy, who is said to be very happy over the high command’s decision.
Though Jana Reddy did not open up, he is learnt to have told his close confidants that the high command had deliberately insulted him by making Ponnala as the PCC chief.
What is worse, the high command made his bitter rival Uttam Kumar Reddy as working president of the TPCC. And this would be a setback for Jana in Nalgonda district.
Jana has been playing a key role in the Telangana movement for quite some, whereas Ponnala remained neutral.
He led several delegations to Delhi for Telangana and became a rallying point for Telangana protagonists of Congress. He took initiative in bringing TRS and Congress Telangana forces together in the fight for statehood.
In fact, Jana Reddy’s name had been doing rounds for quite some as the Telangana PCC chief and he had been getting congratulatory messages. But suddenly, Ponnala emerged as a dark horse much to the chagrin of Jana.
