YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is said to have made a conscious attack on actor and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan, knowing pretty well that he is taking a calculated risk.
According to political analysts, the harsh comments against Pawan, even to the extent of dragging his personal life, were made by Jagan not at the spur of the moment, but with all seriousness and consciousness.
Generally, when two parties like YSRC and Jana Sena are fighting against a common enemy like the Telugu Desam Party, they do not attack each other because it would ultimately benefit the third party.
For quite some time, there have been attempts to bring both Jagan and Pawan together, which would have made the task of defeating Naidu much easier.
During Jagan’s tour in West and East Godavari districts, several YSRC leaders reportedly brought pressure on him to extend a friendly hand to Pawan so as to prevent splitting of Kapu votes in these two districts. Moreover, Pawan has also developed a lot of base in the three north coastal districts as well.
Consolidation of Kapu votes was also on the back of Jagan’s mind. It was learnt there were some attempts from YSRC leaders to reach out to Pawan, but very soon, they realised that the power star was too hard a nut to crack.
He is also equally ambitious to grab power in the next elections and so, he has also been trying to run down Jagan, while simultaneously attacking TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.
This has obviously angered Jagan and that was why he, for the first time, targeted Pawan. He knows it is a calculated risk, as it might anger the Kapu community, but if he keeps quiet, it would send wrong signals to the people that he was too submissive.
So, he wanted to put up an aggressive posture and tried to drive home the point that Pawan is actually benefitting TDP by splitting anti-establishment votes.
That is precisely why Jagan sought to know why Pawan had come out just six months before the elections, while enjoying the honeymoon with the TDP for four years.
In the coming days, Jagan is expected to step up his attack both on Pawan and Naidu, so that he would emerge as the sole champion!
