YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is springing one surprise or the other on his party leaders by coming out strange political strategies ahead of the upcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections in the state.
He is proposing drastic changes in the list of party candidates with the sole objective of coming to power in the state and making a powerful force even at the national level.
During his ongoing tour in Kadapa district, too, Jagan is learnt to have proposed some major changes in the candidates.
According to the latest reports, Jagan might drop his cousin and loyalist Y S Avinash Reddy from Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency and shift him to Jammalamadugu assembly constituency. The two-time MP will have to face the assembly elections for the first time.
Apparently, Jagan has got the intelligence input that Avinash has tough chances in Kadapa because of the massive negative campaign unleashed by the opposition on the alleged murder of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy. If the TDP fields Viveka’s daughter Dr N Sunitha, the contest will become tough.
So, the YSRC chief wants to shift Avinash to Jammalamadugu assembly constituency, which is closer to Pulivendula where he has been doing a lot of ground work for Jagan.
In place of Avinash Reddy, Jagan is contemplating fielding Dr Abhishek Reddy, another close relative of the family. Dr Abhishek Reddy is the son of Y S Madan Mohan Reddy, who happens to be nephew of Avinash Reddy’s father Y S Bhaskar Reddy.
This young man is presently practising as a doctor in Visakhapatnam along with his wife who is also a doctor. But basically, he is from Kadapa and played a key role in 2019 elections, too. This time, Abishek Reddy has been looking after the party work in Simhadripuram and Lingala mandals in Kadapa.
If Avinash is shifted to Jammalamadugu constituency, sitting MLA Sudheer Reddy is expected to be offered MLC seat. At the same time, Dushyant Reddy, another close relative of Jagan, is also expected to be given the party ticket from Kamalapuram assembly seat.
