YSRCP members are dreading surveys. No, these are no pre-poll surveys by marketing media or telly channels.
These are in fact internal surveys through which Jagan is assessing the strength of his party cadre.
It is a known fact that YSRCP is trying its best to come to power in the state.
To this effect, it conducts regular surveys to constantly monitor how the party is doing in various constituencies.
Similarly, they also conduct surveys to make sure that their candidates are in reckoning.
Now this has resulted in some of its leaders losing sleep as changes are made time and again according to the outcome.
Earlier, the party had announced coordinators for each constituency. They were to look after the party activities in that area.
Though nothing was officially said, it was concluded that these coordinators would be the likely contenders during the forthcoming elections.
Accordingly, they have spent lakhs of rupees in their constituencies. However, it is being said that some of them could be replaced as the poll results haven’t been favourable to them.
One such example is that of Sudha, daughter of Nannapaneni Rajakumari. She was named the coordinator for Vinukonda constituency. She has been looking after the party affairs there for a while now. Another leader Brahmanaidu has also shown his interest in the same seat. It is said that Jagan was averse to change the incharge initially. He had also indicated that Brahmanaidu take the Pedakurapadu constituency.
The poll survey showed that Sudha was no match to the TDP candidate in Vinukonda. Following this, there has been talk that the party has now decided to announce Brahmanaidu as the new coordinator for Vinukonda, as he also happens to be a leading industrialist. Naturally, this has been causing angst to Sudha and her followers.
Similarly, Appireddy was made the coordinator was Guntur west zone constituency. But the polls have shown that he is not a suitable candidate, so plans are on to change him.
With Jagan deciding to change candidates in places where they were not doing well, some of the leaders are severely disappointed.
Many leaders are scared of the surveys being held, as Jagan is making changing constant changes based on them!
