
The YSR Congress Party is all set to sweep elections in Rayalaseema region, if the elections are to be held now.
According to an opinion poll conducted by popular news channel NTV with the help of poll research and survey agency Neilson, YSR Congress Party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is way ahead of his rivals in Rayalaseema region which is considered a traditional stronghold of his family.
NTV has claimed that it was an exhaustive survey involving a large sample. In the first phase of the opinion poll results, the media organization has telecast details about Rayalaseema region.
As per the survey, Jagan enjoys highest popularity in the region with 54 percent of people preferring him for the Chief Minister’s post. He is followed by the Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu with 37 percent approval rating for the coveted post.
In terms of the seats, YSR Congress Party is set to make a clean sweep of the Lok Sabha constituencies winning 7 to 8 seats in the region.
Rayalaseema has eight Lok Sabha constituencies. The YSRCP is likely to bag all of them.
The Congress and TDP have a chance of winning a maximum of one seat. In all likelihood, both the parties will draw blank.
The region has 52 Assembly segments spread over four districts. Of them, YSRCP is expected to bag 39 to 44 seats while TDP will have to be content with 7 to 10 seats. The ruling Congress is likely to be routed in the region with a maximum chance of winning 2 seats.
