Jagan Reddy Must Return To Congress

Strange are the ways of politics and politicians. It is well-known that friendship and animosity exist hand-in-hand in the political world.

Only a couple of years back, the Congress party was after YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy and clamped the disproportionate assets case against him. Now, a senior Congress leader has publicly hinted that Jagan must come into Congress.

The open invitation was rendered by ex chief minister of Chattisgarh Ajith Jogi. But Jogi did not stop there. He said that the time was appropriate for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Maharashtra’s NCP leaders to rejoin the party.

His argument was that a united Congress was necessary to deal and fight with the fascist forces that have risen to power in the country.

In the past, the leaders chose to leave the party owing to various reasons. But now, such reasons do not hold good and the leaders must come back into the fold of the Congress party, said Jogi hinting at a home-coming of sorts.

Just like the Janata and Pariwar parties, if all the ex-Congress leaders get back together, the party’s strength would increase in the Lok Sabha and it can have 100 MPs, he added.

Meanwhile, given the fact that it was the Congress that initiated the disproportionate assets case against him and since some of the cases are still pending against him, Jagan may think twice even before considering the offer.

Right now, the Congress party is almost written off in Andhra and the chances of it recovering are bleak.

Given this scenario, will Jagan bother to go back to the party?
