The YSR Congress Party chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's 'Samaikhya Sankaravam' Yatra, which was to begin on November 28 in Chittoor district to rally in support of the public against the division of the State, has been postponed by two days.
It will now commence to November 30. Jagan deferred the Yatra in the wake of the disaster left behind by "Helen" cyclone that ravaged coastal region of the state. He will be touring the damaged areas and meet the affected people on November 27 and 28.
It may be recalled that YSRCP leader Amarantah Reddy said that the Yatra is undertaken to expose the doublespeak of Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu who have been serving the interests of Congress high command at the cost of the self-pride of Telugu people.
“Our party president will begin the 'Samaikhya Sankaravam' from Kuppam to Srikakulam and tour all the districts to create a public opinion against the authoritarian attitude of the Centre and the misuse of Article 3 to divide the state for political gains," he said.
The Yatra kicks-off from Kuppam as Odarpu Yatra, in which Jagan had planned to meet the families of those who committed suicide at the death of Y S Rajashekhara Reddy. The Yatra will culminate in Srikakulam and Jagan will tour all the three regions, including Telangana.
The yatra is meant to express solidarity with the people of Seemandhra and highlight the party's stand for united Andhra Pradesh. The YSRCP is of the firm view that many people in Telangana are also in favour of keeping the state united.
