YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Saturday sought to play the Telugu self-respect card which was the hallmark of Telugu Desam Party founder N T Rama Rao.
Strongly rebutting the criticism that he had been going soft on Congress president Sonia Gandhi all these days, Jagan, in his address at Samaikya Sankharavam meeting, made a scathing attack on her for playing with the lives of the Telugu people.
He described it as a fight between Delhi’s arrogance and Telugu people’s self-respect.
Jagan sought to know whether Sonia, who had taken Indian citizenship 30 years ago, would leave for Italy, if Parliament passed a resolution.
“Why does she want Andhra people to give up Hyderabad? Does she know the history of Andhra Pradesh? You are playing with the future of our children only to make your son Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister,” he alleged.
However, the bottomline of Jagan’s speech was evident from his own words that people should give his party 30 MP seats in the next general elections so that he could stop division of Andhra Pradesh.
