YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy came in for some sharp criticism for raising the foreign origin of Congress president Sonia Gandhi at his Samaikya Sankharavam meeting in the city on Friday.
Government Whip in the State Legislative Assembly T Jayaprakash Reddy strongly objected to Jagan describing Sonia Gandhi as an Italian.
“It is painful on the part of Jagan to raise Sonia’s foreign origin. Was he not aware that Sonia was a foreigner when he got the Congress ticket from her when he had made a debut in politics from Kadapa?” Jagga Reddy asked.
He reminded that Jagan had contested Kadapa elections in 2009 and campaigned in the elections using Sonia’s photograph.
He asked Jagan whether Sonia, once an angel for him, had now become a devil to him.
He demanded that Jagan immediately tender an apology for making derogatory remarks against Sonia Gandhi.
