It appears YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has decided to confine himself to Andhra Pradesh, as he has realised that his party has no stakes in Telangana.
Unlike his arch rival Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, who is still trying to adopt his two-eyed policy on AP and Telangana, Jagan has more clarity: when there is no chance of coming to power in Telangana, why should he go soft towards it? So, it is better to get the brand of being anti-Telangana, rather than being diplomatic.
That is precisely why Jagan has raised the banner of revolt against Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao who, he accused, was acting like a Hitler with regard to construction of irrigation projects on Krishna and Godavari rivers.
He went to the extent of cursing the people of Telangana that they would have to suffer heavily, if the Telangana denies water to Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra.
He even accused KCR of grabbing Hyderabad, depriving AP youth of their jobs and now depriving people of their legitimate share in river waters. At the same time, he alleged that Naidu was adopting softer approach towards Telangana as he was caught in cash-for-vote scam.
Apparently, Jagan is planning to emerge as the sole champion of Andhra Pradesh, while Naidu is still adopting double standards. He thinks this would help him a lot in the next elections, as people would believe a hard core Andhra leader unlike Naidu, who also has interests in Telangana.
