Jagan Can't Walk On Rajahmundry Bridge?

YSR Congress party president and Leader of Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, whose marathon padayatra, presently in West Godavari district, has completed 185 days, is all set to enter East Godavari district crossing Godavari river on Sunday.

However, the state government has denied permission to Jagan to enter East Godavari by walking across the river on the famed road-cum-rail bridge at Rajahmundry.

Reason: the bridge has become too old and if thousands of people walk across the bridge along with Jagan, it might not withstand the pressure under vibrations and might collapse.

So, the district authorities requested Jagan to identify an alternative route from West Godavari to enter Rajahmundry.

They submitted a written letter to Jagan expressing their inability to make security arrangements for him on Rajahmundry bridge.

Apparently, the authorities have got the feedback from their counterparts in Krishna district on Jagan’s padayatra.

When he entered Vijayawada from Guntur district by walking across Kanaka Durgamma Varadhi in Krishna river, there were reports that it received massive vibrations because thousands of people followed Jagan.

The Kanaka Durga Varadhi managed to withstand the pressure because it is relatively new. But Rajahmundry bridge is very old and hence, the authorities felt if the crowds of similar magnitude walk across the bridge, it might collapse. Hence, the warning.
